Forging Ahead

I was reminded today while I was running my 3.5 miles about the fortitude and inner resolve it takes to keep moving toward our purpose and destiny. It would be wonderful if life would slow down and allow you to progress without any distractions.

As I continued to run, I thought about the many times I had to press on amid the many responsibilities and commitments I have made in life. Much like my morning run, the course has been filled with up hill and down hill moments. I had to pace myself, stop every now and then for a breather and refreshment, and keep on running.

Whatever goals you have set for this year, keep moving, don't be in a hurry, take the necessary breaks and keep forging ahead!

Still In His Presence,

Dr. Toni

Thank you for that affirmation I work full time and attend Clayton State full time in addition to doing my duites in my home church. I have been doing this schedule for the last 5-6 years now and though my mind, body, and spirit say take a break, I have refused. Well now I am burned out and need a break. I recently decided that for the Summer term I would take a break from classes but had been feeling guilty. Thank you for your words of wisdom- I will stop trying to manipulate my schedule and just enjoy this summer.

Debberra,

It sounds like you could really use a break. I want to recommend the book Stopping: How To Be Still When You Have to Keep Going by David Kundtz.

I have recommended it to so many women because we are notorious for overloading our schedules and feeling guilty when we have to take a break. Do yourself a favor and enjoy your summer.

Dear Pastor Toni,

Our daughter, Auma, bought us Wii Fit and we have been running/power walking at least 30 minutes a day -- everyday for the past 34 days.

Some experts say that what you do every day for 30 straight days without fail becomes a habit. We want to make this a habit along with all the other important disciplines.

Thank you for your good example.
